SOHO MURDER
VERNON FOUND GUILTY SENTENCED TO IMPRISONMENT. Pre>s Association—By Telegraph—Copyright PARIS, April 29. (Received April 30, at 10 a.m.) Vernon was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment, to he followed by 20 years’ banishment. Bertron was acquitted. TO GO TO DEVIL’S ISLAND. PARIS. April 29. (Received April 30, at 11 a.m.) The Public Prosecutor, referring to Vernon’s stay at Montreal at tho same time as Kassel, said that when a man named Marty, with whom they were connected, was killed the body was disposed of in the same manner as Kassel’s was. Kassel had an hour’s agony before death in the presence of a murderer of incredible cruelty. The Public Prosecutor finally conceded that the jury might consider that in the evil character of the murdered man they could find mitigating circumstances. The sentence will be served on Devil's Island.
