The ‘ Daily Mail’s ’ political correspondent says: “A special allowance of at least £6,000 a year for Princess Elizabeth until she comes of age and an increased allowance for the Duke of Gloucester (at present £25,000) in recognition, of the extra duties he has to perform in the absence of a Prince of Wales, are among the recommendations of the Select Committee on the new civil list, the report of which has ’ now been completed. The Queen and Queen Mary will each receive allowances of £70,000. The other recommendations follow closely the provisions made for the Royal Family in George the Fifth’s reign. The report contains no references to any allowance for the Duke of Windsor."
