DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE AUSTRALIAN MINING- SECTION ACTIVE Australian mining was tho only active section on the local share market this morning, all other sections remaining quiet. Woolworths (N.Z.) slipped 2s after the 11s rise yesterday, and buyers’ offer of £7 14s attracted no sellers. G. J. Coles had business late yesterday at £5 6s 2d, the market easing to-day to £5 3s 6d and £5 6s, the latter being sellers* quotation yesterday. National Insurance had reported business at 17s 7d, and. Anthony Horderns at £l. Shares in the Australian mining section eased all round. Lyells dropped 6d and 8d to £2 4s 8d and £2 ss, a sale being transacted at £2 4s 9d. Morgans, after two sales late yesterday at 15s, closed with buyers at that prico and sellers Id away. Placer Development dropped further by 2s to £4 16s, with no buyers appearing. Broken Hill South had a sale and buyers at £2 6s, sellers wanting £2 7s, while both issues of Electrolytic Zinc dropped 9d to Is on. all quotations, with business in the preference issue at £2 17s. Local gold mining was quiet. There; was a good inquiry for all Government stocks, the 4 per cent. 1952-55 issue recovering to £lO4.
