KENNEL NOTES

[By Tail-wagger.] Miss G. K. Garrard, who won the challenge in Airedale bitches with Oivuika Lady Exquisite at tho Sydney Royal Show, is importing another Airedale, of which ‘ Our Dogs ’ says something very complimentary. This same Miss Garrard, who, by the way, belongs to East Malvern, Victoria, is the owner of the premier wire-haired fox terrier at the Royal Dogberry Springtime (imp., ch. Gallant Fox of Wildoaks— Carnearthera Rosebud), and a son of her’s by ch. Talavera Nigel (Eng.), so it would appear as though this owner lias a kennel of really good ones. Of her latest importation the English journal says: ‘‘ One of our greatest bitches has left this country—namely, Mrs Plant’s ch. Warland Pam. She has gone to Miss Garrard, an Australian admirer, who has undoubtedly made a fine gilt-edged investment, for, besides being the winner of a mountain of prizes, she is bred in the purple, her sire being Wolstanton Gaffer and beldam ch. Wolstanton Ideal, also one of the highest-class bitches that ever stepped into a ring. Only two years old, Pam has had a sparkling career, winning as many as 91 first prizes in the first five weeks of her exhibition life, in breed and variety classes, and in doing so lowering the colours of many champions. She won her challenge certificates at Glasgow, under Mr Worfolk, at Taunton under Mr Wallwork, and at the Midland Counties Airedale Terrier Club show; tho best Airedale show in the world, always held at Birmingham, where Mr F. Calvert Butler gave her the largo green card in an Airedale terrier entry of 206. May her good fortune continue. She was mated, before leaving England, to ch. Waycon Aristocrat by ch. Stockfield Aristocrat ex ch. Sweet Damsel’s Legacy.” This week we have a photo, of the well-known winner, Chuty-Wuh of Montresor, owned and bred by Mrs C. L. Ilidgen, of Christchurch.
