BOARD MEETING The monthly meeting of the Y.W.C.A. Board of Directors was held in the association rooms. Miss Francis Ross presided, and there were present: —Mesdames F. B. Adams, W. Anderson, C. Mackie Begg, R. W. S. Sotting, J. R. Fairbairn, C. F. Fowler, H. P. Kidson, J. Malcolm, H. Parata, P. L. Ritchie, H. D. Skinner, H. K. Wilkinson, Misses M. Begg, F. M'Namara, Permin, L. Sullivan, and H. K. Lovell-Smith (general secretary) . A devotional study, based on Woods s ‘ Everyday Religion,’ was taken by Mrs Fairbairn. Arrangements were made for an “ at home ” to be held on May 4 to enable members to meet Miss Lovell-Smith, the new general secretary, and Miss E. Erickson, the activities’ secretary. Tentative plans for a reception to Dr T. Z. Koo were made, this to be held if a suitable time in Dr Koo’s programme could be made. The hostel report showed that the accommodation had been taxed to the utmost during the past month. The activities’ report stated _ that the Girl Citizens were commencing their programme for the winter months; a business girls’ tea had been held in the cafeteria to welcome the new general secretary and the activities’ secretary. The Travel Club, Drama Club, and Kimi Club had met, and arrangements were being made for _ dressmaking classes and French classes. Badminton was played by two groups; the Everygirls’ Club was to hold its opening function early in May. The Sports Secretary reported that about 300 girls were organised in the sports department, the majority playing basketball. This included 16 teams, representing firms playing in the interhouse competition and 12 teams playing in the Otago Basketball Association’s competition, and one hockey team. . The general secretary was appointed delegate to represent the Y.W.C.A. on the National Council of Women and the League of Nations Union.
