MOMENT UNPROPITIOUS
NEW INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
DOOMED TO FAILURE Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, April 22. (Received April 23, at 10 a.m.) Mr Norman Davis, who is visiting London, informed President Roosevelt that the moment was unpropitious for contemplating an international conference. Mr Davis strongly pointed out that any attempt to reach a general agreement on economic and armament questions would be premature and doomed to failure. Mr Davis has now cancelled his intended visit to the Disarmament Conference Bureau meeting at Geneva because he feels it would serve no useful purpose. BRITAIN'S ATTITUDE STATEMENT BY MR BALDWIN. London; April 22. (Received April 23, at 10.5 a.m.) Mr Baldwin, in the House of Commons, said the Government was willing to participate in a world conference provided there was adequate preparation and likelihood of success.
