Interest in the fprthcoming New} Education Fellowship Conference to be held in Dunedin in July is increasing and there is considerable inquiry as to its nature and scope. Never before has such a unique opportunity. been offered of associating with so many distinguished educationists of international reputation. Among. them ara specialists representing many important aspects of education. The Education Fellowship “Fraternity”. performs three functions of particular ; value at this present time of international, dislocation. It acts as a permanent work* ing laboratory in which new develop* ments in thought and practice In differ* ent lands can "be exhibited and discussed throughout the world. It maintains friendly personal contacts between' educational' thinkers and practitioners in different countries, and thus . con* tributes to the feeling of .human,' solidarity among, those engaged ! in' education. It is helping educators to un* derstand the differences in social attw tude and custom which characterise different classes and different countries:' and constitute one of the most fruitful causes of misunderstanding and conflict in the modern world. , The Dunedin Committee, consisting of representatives drawn from all the education bodies in the city and in* eluding members of the City Council and Chamber of , Commerce, has arrangements for the conference well in’ hand. Registrations _ are coming ini freely, and it is anticipated that there will be an attendance of 600 drawn from; Otago and Southland. One feature of the conference will b« the evening public lectures, which are expected to attract a wide interest front the general public as well as from those more closely connected with educational work.
