MANNEQUIN PARADE
GOWNS FROM MARY GARDEN SALON A successful mannequin parade was staged at the Savoy yesterday afternoon, when model gowns from the Mary Garden Salon, of Wellington, were shown. The stage was decorated with pink, blue, and green hydrangeas, and it made a perfect entrance for the mannequins, who walked between the tables and through the Tudor and Warwick. Lounges. The gowns shown will be displayed and on sale with many others in the Somerset Lounge on Friday from 10 a.m. • Among the gowns worn was one of moire taffeta, with the low Victorian neckline, tight bodice, and .very fullflared skirt. Tiny sprays of rainbow ribbon flowers around the shoulders and on the skirt perfected this charming model. A honey matalasse tunic frock, moulded perfectly to the figure, looked very attractive. The frock was made with a fine spider-work back, and it was finished with violet velvet flowers. A black velvet Tudor style, with long tight sleeves and high neckline, created much interest. Another beautiful gown was an ivory satin cocktail frock, with handpainted gold flowers on the tunic and a split-stitched skirt. An oyster white pleated net also looked very attractive. A heavy peach bloom bark crepe evening gown introduced the new Grecian lines, with a long shoulder train and large diamante trimmings. A bridal gown of ivory moire ring velvet, beautifully cut to the figure and featuring the newest Kay Francis sleeves, looked very distinctive. A pleasing atmosphere was created by the bridesmaids’ frocks, in salmon pink and ivory net. The frocks were cut on full lines.
