KIWI CLUB RACES The Kiwi Amateur Swimming Club ■ontinued its championship races at its club hour at the Municipal Baths last night, » feature being the success of Noeline Peat and Bob Peat in the 50yds junior breast stroke championship events. The former is only -11 years of age, and her time of 47sec was a particularly good effort, especially as this is her first season in competition. The programme for the night on Tuesday, April 27, at 6 o’clock, was, drawn up as follows: — Width, under 10 (boys and girls), handicap; 25yds, under 12 (boys and girls), handicap; 50yds junior boys back stroke championship (Irwin Cup): junior girls’ diving championship (Fogg Cup); 33 l-3yds open handicap; junior learners’ width, under 9. Demonstrations were arranged to be given by junior and intermediate members of the club, and fay Miss I. Purdie and P. E. Mathieson, the New Zealand record-holders. For the parents’ night on Thursday, April 29, at 8.30, the following programme was drawn up:—Club diving championship (Murdoch Memorial Cup), 100yds men’s back stroke championship (Halliday Cup), 100ydsladies’ breast stroke championship (Ladies’ Challenge Cup), 220yds intermediate hoys’ free style championship (club trophy), 100yds intermediate girls’ back stroke championship (Eastabrook Cup), and 60yds open handicap. Demonstrations were also arranged to be given by P. E. Mathieson, D. Freeman, A. Thomas, D. Reid, R. Geddes, and Misses I. Purdie, A. Brown, D. fope, and E. Aberuethy. The following have been selected to represent the Kiwi Club in the Otago four-a-side relay championship at 8.30 tohnorrow night:—P. E. Mathieson, Reg. Geddes, A. Thomas, and D. Reid.
