The monthly luncheon of members of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, held to-day in the club, was the best attended of the series, nearly 100 members, including visitors from country districts, being present. The address was given by Major F. H. Lampen, whose subject was ‘ The Crowning of Our King,’ and in an interesting description of the Coronation ceremony and its many phases and meanings he held the attention of his hearers. As Mr J. M. White stated in moving a vote of thanks to the speaker, the address was a unique one, for there were probably few in the country who had such an intimate knowledge of the details of the ceremony as had .Major Lampen. Mr C. L. Calvert, vice-pre-sident of the association, presided, and at the outset introduced to the gathering Mr H. W. Guy, of London, who is visiting New Zealand on behalf of the Soldiers and Sailors’ Mutual Association, a body that works in Great Britain in the interests of disabled exsoldiers.
