*—Ministerial.— The Hon. F. Jones, Postmaster-Gene-ral, Minister of Defence, and Acting Minister jn Charge of Broadcasting, left this morning by air for Wellington. Mr M. M. Shand left by the express this morning for Wellington. Mr j. L. Passmore was a passenger by the express to-day on his way to Wellington. Messrs R. Hudson, B. G. Hudson, and C. V. Smith left this morning for Wellington. Mr A. E. Ansell was a passenger for. the north by this morning’s express. Mr J. M'lndoe, chief clerk of the Magistrate’s Court at Christchurch, who previously held a similar position in Dunedin, will shortly retire after 41 years’ service with the Department of Justice. A Christchurch Association message states that the Rev. Lawrence Rogers, for the last five years minister of St* David’s Presbyterian Church, Sydenham, has been appointed editor of tho ‘ Outlook,’ official weekly organ of the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand.. Mr Rogers will take up his new position probably next month. The paper will be reorganised, _ and in future will be published in Christchurch. Mr R. I. Allan has been appointed Government representative on the Post and Telegraph Department’s Board o| Appeal. Mr Allan retired from the department last December after 42 years* service, during 11 of which he occupied the position of inspector. Mr A. S. Henderson, one of Invercargill’s oldest residents, celebrated hi* ninety-second birthday on Saturday. Mr, Henderson was born in Edinburgh on April 17, 1845, and still enjoys excellent health. After spending some years at sea, he arrived at Lyttelton in 1869, and later went to Invercargill, where, he has lived ever since. A Press Association cable message from London states that Mr Alan Fairfat has been appointed cricket coach at Eton, one of the best coaching appointments in England. A Wellington Association message re«i cords tho death of Mr F. W. Oakley, chief messenger in Parliament Bnijd- ■ ings; aged 73. He was attached to the entourage of the Prince of Wales in 1920 and of the Duke of York in 1927. Mr D. Forsyth, Deputy-mayor of Port Chalmers, left this morning for Wellington to attend a conference of educationists called hy the Minister of Education.
