IMPERIAL COUNCIL OF AGRICULTURE. The creation of an Imperial Council of Agriculture was strongly urged by Sir Herbert Matthews, a prominent British agriculturist, who arrived by the Aorangi to-day. Ho said that with such a council set up a great many of the difficulties at present exjsting could be removed. There was no reason why the farmers of New Zealand should lie in competition with the farmers of Britain. New Zealand could produce the world’s finest butter. England had the advantage over New Zealand in the quality of its beef, hut New Zealand lamb could command a world market. He would like to see each British Dominion using what it was best suited for. He was strongly , opposed -to any British country sending its best stud stock to foreign countries.—Auckland Press Association. YOUNG STOWAWAY—GOOD TIME ON AORANGI. With thoughts of high adventure, Eric Allen, Aged 14, hoarded the Aorangi at Sydney. When he was discovered at sea, a radio message was sent to his parents in Sydney, and immediate arrangements were made for payment of hi;i passage to Auckland and return. The young Australian had a good time, aboard, and feels that at least he has had a slice of adventure which he hopes to resume some time in the future,—Auckland Association message. 170 SCHOOLS CLOSED. The Wellington Education Board decided to-day that'all schools in its district this side of Cook Strait not already closed be closed forthwith.
