RACE TRAFFIC
MOTORING PATRONS COMPLIMENTED [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, April 11. In the course of an interview the Minister of Transport (the Hon. R. Semple), while expressing his appreciation of the co-operation, he has received from the vast majority of motorists, made special mention of one particular class—namely, the racing public. “ I have been informed by officers of my department that until December last most race meetings were marred by accidents or instances _of grossly dangerous driving,” he said. “Since I appealed to the public for a greater measure of co-operation I have been pleased to receive a further report to the effect that the conduct of motorists driving to and from race_ meetings has been all that can be desired.
“It is the practice of traffic officers to arrange for a short statement to be broadcast at the more important meetings,” added Mr Semple, “ and I wish to express my deep appreciation of the co-operation which the. racing public has shown during the last four months. The senior traffic officers are in close co-operation with the officials of the various racing clubs to ensure thajt there shall be no undue delay in the handling of motor vehicles.”
