Our Auckland correspondent telegraphs ; There was little life in the market this morning, and only a small turnover was recorded at the first call. Values were steady for most lines, hut bidding was quiet. Metal shares showed further weakness, though electrolytic Zincs made a slight gain in a reported sale at 60s 9d. Broken Hills were quoted lower, between 82s 6d and 82s 9d, and Mount Lyells had a market between 44s fid and 46s 3d. Mount Morgans were offered cheaper at 17s 7d and North Broken Hills at 78s, with no buyer in either case. The banking section was steady. Commercials were quoted between 19s 6d and 19s 7d, and for New Zealands buyers moved up 2d to 43s Bd, with sellers still about at 445. Miscellaneous local dssues were quiet. Farmers’ Trading were in steady demand at 21s 6d for the ordinary shares, and 22s for A and the B prefs. Woohvorths (Sydney) had a firmer market between £7 4s and £7 10s, with £4 10s offered for rights. Government Stocks were in good demand, hut there was no inquiry for local bodies’ scrip.
