OLD COLLEGIANS ASSOCIATION f.HHUAL MEETING AHD REUHIOH The annual meeting of the John M'Glashau Old Collegians’ Association was held in the Somerset Lounge on Friday night. The president (Mr R D. B. Paterson) was in the chair, and there were present Mr T. C. Ross (chairman of the Board of Governors), Mr James Begg (patron), Mr R. G. C. M'Nab (head master of the college), and over 70 members of the association. The President welcomed new members, and referred to the successful year which the association had enjoyed. He read a cablegram from Mr Colin Gilray, of Scotch College, Melbourne (formerly head master of M'Glashau College). conveying his greetings and good wishes for a successful reunion. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report stated that the association was making satisfactory progress. The 1936 reunion had been most successful, and the various functions were well supported by members. Two football matches were played during the year, the College v. Old Boys match resulting in a victory for the Old Boys. The other match was between two teams of old boys, who thoroughly enjoyed their game. An excellent debate was held at the college on the subject ‘ That New Zealand Would be Happier and More Prosperous as a Colony of TJ.S.A., and Should Petition for Annexation by TJ.S.A.,’ the college speakers for the negative being judged the winners. The annual ball was again a social success. A new function held during the year was an informal social, when Mr Simmers gave a very interesting talk on his trip to Japan. Supper was generously provided by Mrs A. M. Begg, in whose home the social was held. The membership of the association had increased, and there were 116 financial members at the end of the financial year. The finances were in a very healthy state, and the statement of receipts and payments showed a surplus of £2O 11s Id for the year, the total funds in the association’s control being £63 3s 6d. The report was adopted. OFFICE-BEARERS.

The election of office-bearers resulted: —President, Mr R. D. B. Paterson; vice-presidents—Messrs T. F. Begg, J. M. Sidey, and E. J. Thomson; secretary, Mr A. W. Gray; treasurer, Mr R. D. Hoggans; assistant secretary ana social, Mr D. L. Wood; sports, Mr S. R. Young; magazine and register, Mr J. Borne; first-year member, Mr D. I. Ross; auditor, Mr F. J. Mac Lean. GENERAL. The President, on the recommendation. of the committee,_ moved —“That an honours board be given to the college and that £ls be appropriated for that purpose, and that £lO be placed in the reserve fund.”—Carried unanimously. A tie which the committee considered would be suitable in design, quality, and price for adoption as the official association tie was submitted to the meeting and approved. At the conclusion of the formal business supper was served. The toast to the King was honoured, after which Mr M. G. O’Callaghan proposed the toast to the college, the head master (Mr R. G. C. M'Nab) replying. The toast to the Old Collegians’ Association was proposed by Mr T. C. Ross, and Mr R. D. B. Paterson replied. Items were rendered by Messrs Elder, Borrie, Harris, Wither, and Moore. A cine film containing incidents of the .1936 reunion and local views was shown by Mr B. H. Guthrie. On Saturday afternoon a sports programme had been arranged, but owing to the inclement weather a modified programme of deck tennis and table tennis was substituted.

A very enjoyable dance was held on Saturday night in the college hall, and the reunion concluded with a service at the college on Sunday.
