GAOL PENALTY

PERSISTENT SLY-GRDG SELLING

AUCKLAND, April 9

A sentence of three months’ imprisonment on three charges of slygrog selling was imposed on Roy M'Gregor. in the Police Court this morning. The police said' the dedefendant was fined £SO in 1935 and £IOO last year. The police on February 13 raided a room in a city building which was occupied by M'Gregor, and 29 men and women were found on the premises. M'Gregor told the police that the room was “ a bind of club or _ restaurant.” The only purpose for which the room was used, the police stated, was for the sale of liquor. Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., said that M'Gregor .had been given . chance after chance. The men. and women found on the premises were fined, amounts ranging from £1 to £2.
