ANNUAL MEETING INVALUABLE SERVICE RENDERED The Dunedin Hospital Guild held its forty-fifth annual meeting in , First Church Hall yesterday afternoon, Mr C. R. Smith occupying the chair at the request of the president (Mrs R. W. Glendinning), there being a large gathering of members. REPORT AND BALANCE SHEET. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, Mr Smith congratulated the members on a very successful year, and expressed his gratitude at the response for assistance for needy persons. The guild was nearing its jubilee of service, and he urged that a greater amount of publicity should be given the work of the guild, such as a .radio broadcast, as the majority of the people of the city did not realise to the full the valuable work of the body. He urged that a canvass of the city should be- made in order to increase membership. Financially, the guild was in ;a good position, there being a credit balance of approximately £26, an increase of about £9 on the figures for the previous year. The guild was extremely fortunate in its officers, who were mainly responsible for the sound position it at present enioved. He paid tribute to the work of Miss M. Callender, who was forced to relinquish her position as treasurer. In conclusion, he lamented the fact that male members were very few, and suggested that, steps ■be taken to increase their numbers. Tennent, matron of the Dunedin Hospital, complimented the members upon their ■ efforts to brighten the last Christmas for the children in the Hospital by gifts of- clothes' made by guild members.
