The matter, however, is now under consideration, and arrangements will he made to carry out the survey as required. The task to be undertaken entails the compiling of a housing survey map. accompanied by details of the accommodation provided, with special reference to the number and sizes of rooms, physical conditions of dwelling houses and appurtenances, occupancy, with special reference to age, sex, and number of persons occupying the houses, ownership, valuation and rental, and the extent of overcrowding, and population densities in residential areas. This survey will probably take some months to complete. The men to ho employed will call on the householders and furnish them with a form on which the desired information is to be entered. It will be necessary for the occupant to supply a list of those living in the house, indicating those who are members of the family and those who are not. The form will be called for later, when measurement will be made of the sizes of bedrooms and information gathered as to_ the window space, ventiiation_ and sanitary arrangements, and the air space represented by the portion of the allotment not covered by buildings. Particular attention will be paid to buildings used as apartments or flats, as these are more likely to he overcrowded than private dwellings.
