IMPORTANT NEW PLANS THE GOVERNMENT'S INTENTIONS (British Official Wireless.) Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright RUGBY, March 10. Important new plans respecting the future of industry were revealed in the House of Commons. These include the setting up of a commission upon the location of industry and problems raised by the continued expansion of London. The Government has appointed a tribunal to decide what is fair value to be paid for the nationalisation of coal royalties, and a Treasury advisory committee has been formed to assist in administering financial aid to new industries in certified areas which suffered from the depression. With regard to industrial development in South Wales, it was announced that negotiations with the Nuffield Trust and Low Temperature Carbonisation Ltd. have resulted in a decision to start an oil-from-coal factory there. Five other new industries are to be started in South AVales. In Southwest Durham, which is another special area,, a small executive board is to be set up to remove derelict buildings and investigate the economic possibilities of that area.
IKON AND STEEL IMPOSTS RUGBY, March 10. Dr Burgin, for the Board of Trade, declined to accept a suggestion in the House of Commons that the quota regulation of iron and steel imports should be suspended in view of the shortage in the iron and steel industry.’
