Moore, former chief of the Tariff Board, criticised Canada’s new trade agreement ■with Britain, and contended that preferential pacts bred ill-feeling by other nations,, leading countries within the Empire toward economic imperialism. «We cannot contribute to the cause of war and then run away from war,” A Socialist member cited the resignation of Sir Henry Gullett as an example of the trouble caused by pacts.
