THREAT OF LABOUR SPLIT

ATTEMPT TO RECONCILE DIFFERENCES CONFERENCE NEXT MONTH The development of a serious split in the Labour organisation on its industrial side has been recently threatened, and in an attempt to reconcile the differences, Mr Fraser (Minister of Education) was approached by a deputation from the Alliance of Labour and the Trades and Labour Councils’ National Federation. As a result he will call a conference at Wellington on April 14. Invitations are being issued not only to organisations affiliated with these national bodies, but to all industrial unions. The conference will include representatives of the teachers’, railwayinen’s, post and telegraph, and Public Service employees’ organisations.
