FINE—RISING TEMPERATURES The following weather report was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts: Dunedin, Port Chalmers* Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:—* An anti-cyclone now covers the Dominion, with highest pressure over the South Island. Forecast: Light, variable winds. Weather fine, with rising temperatures, but c6ld to.-night. Seas slight to moderate. A DECIDED IMPROVEMENT. A change in wind direction, from a south-westerly to a westerly, which gradually lessened in intensity, was noticeable yesterday afternoon, and conditions showed a general improvement. No wind was apparent this morning, bright sunshine appeared early, and temperatures rose considerably in consequence. The sky was almost cloudless, and every indication was given at noon for a £ne and warm week-end. The amount _of the fall for the duration of the rains was .Olin, this being registered yesterday, showers having fallen in the morning. Barometric pressure at noon was steady _at 30.25 in, as compared with a rising pressure of SO.lin yesterday. Temperatures until 12 o’dock to-day were _SB and 53 degrees maximum and minimum respectively, the corresponding readings yesterday having been 51.5 and 50 degrees, while aver a 24-hour period on Friday 55.5 and 37.8 degree* were recorded.
