LONDON WOOL SALES ■The Bank of New Zealand. London, advises that prospects for the next series are doubtful. Prices generally are expected to decline as" follow; Merinos, fine cross-breds, half-penny to one penny; medium and coarse crossbreds, half-penny. LONDON MEAT MARKET The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office as at the close of business yesterday. Demand and prices for wethers are steady. There is a fair demand for owes. Larger supplies of lambs have caused prices to weaken. Quotations. —Wethers: Light, 5d to 5Jd; heavy, 4d to 4sd. Ewes, 3|d to 4|d. Lambs: Twos, 7|d to 7Jd; eights, 7id to 7RI; fours, C|d to 7d; seconds, 7:id to 7^d. GILLESPIE'S BEACH RETURN The secretaries of the Gillespie’s Beach Gold Mining Co. advise that the return for the week ended February 19 amounted to 72ozs 7dwt for 129 hours’ dredging. This return was obtained from the beach end of the cut.’ WORKSOP AND MEMONA RETURNS The return of the Worksop dredge was 82 ounces for 135 hours. Nemona: 67 ounces for 109 hours.— Reefton message.
