EDUCATIONAL. UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO. CLASSES IN MUSIC. CLASSES are held in Harmony and Advanced Harmony, Counterpoint and Advanced Counterpoint, Double Counterpoint, Canon and Fugue, Form and Analysis, Orchestration, History of Music, Musical Appreciation. Special attention is drawn to the Class in Harmony, which covers the requirements of students preparing for the qualifying paper for Diplomas issued by the Associated Board and the Rudiments Examination of Trinity College. The Class in Form and Analysis covers the growth of form in music from its earliest beginnings to the operas of Wagner. In addition to the degree of Bachelor of Music, the University of New Zealand has instituted a Diploma in Music. Particulars of the fees, etc., may be obtained from the Registrar. The Classes are open to nonmatriculated students, and are not restricted to full-time University students, and single subjects may be taken. Students will have access to the Carnpgie Corporation’s Endowment of 850 gramophone records, 250 full orchestral and opera scores, and an extensive library. The University awards a bursary at the conclusion of the first year of the degree or diploma course to the student obtaining the highest marks in the terms examination. NEW PUPILS WILL BE ENROLLED at the Otago Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools and the King’s High School on FRIDAY, 26th February, from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Those living at a distance from Dunedin who cannot conveniently enrol that day may do so on MONDAY, Ist March. Birth and proficiency certificates and primary progress cards must be produced by pupils on enrolment. Parents of New Pupils who desire to see the Rector (iu the case of cither of the Boys’ Schools) or the Principal of the Otago Girls’, High School may do so on the same date during the same hours. Holders of Standard VI. Competency Certificates will be admitted to Free Places iu the Otago Gilds’ High School provided they take the Commercial Course. Boys holding such certificates can be admitted to the Otago Boys’ High School and the King’s High School only as paying pupils. Pupils entering under this qualification must produce their certificates on enrolment. ■All new pupils and pupils returning, excepting only those country pupils who cannot conveniently attend at that hour, will assemble at their schools on MONDAY, Ist March, at 9 a.m. Those in attendance at the Otago Boys’ High School or the King’s High School at the end of last year, who have not yet informed the Rector of their intention to return or otherwise, are requested to do so immediately, preferably by letter. The full name and last year’s form should he given. Intending new pupils of the Otago Boys’ High School and the King’s High School who have not yet done so should also give immediate notice of their intention to enrol. The form of notice may be obtained at the High Schools Office, 236 Moray Place. Cap orders also will be issued at that office.
