Mr Chandler Hovey, a Boston banker, has purchased from Mr Harold Vanderbilt Rainbow, the 1934 America’s Cup defender. He announced that ho will race against Mr Vanderbilt’s New Ranger for defence of the cup. The move was greeted with rejoicing from the Cup Committee of the New York Yacht Club, which hitherto was worried over the lack of a worthy opponent to tune up the Ranger.
