GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE

A TRAGIC ACCIDENT TEN MEN KILLED Press Association —By Telegraph Copyright SAN FRANCISCO, February 17. (Received February 18, at 1.35 p.m.) Ten men are believed to have been killed when steel and wooden construction forms crashed from Golden Gate bridge and plunged into the water 200 ft below. Officials said it was inconceivable that the men could have survived. Eight bodies are believed to have been swept out to sea. It is reported that a coastguard cutter recovered two. Tho workers were stripping the temporary forms from the bridge deck when a carrier wheel snapped. The forms swayed dizzily, then crashed into the safety net, which was unable to withstand the strain, and the rearing mass plunged down, the strong tides sweeping them out to sea. This is the first serious accident since the bridge was opened in May.
