ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS

KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. Miss Joy Bose, of Forest Hill, Inver* cargill, was knocked down by a car driven by H. A, Edmonds, of Dunedin, yesterday afternoon while walking aqross Dee street at the intersection with Don street. She suffered a fracture of the left leg, and was admitted to the Southland Hospital. ' INQUEST OPENED. Evidence of identification was taken at an inquest held at the Hospital this morning on Thomas Simpson, who died on Monday night. Mr J . R. Bartholomew, S.M., sat as coroner. The deceased was admitted to the Hospital suffering from a badly lacerated hand received while working an electric mixer at Wright’s bakery, where he was employed. After John Simpson had identified the body as that of his father, the inquest was adjourned until Tuesday. MOTOR COLLISION. Two cars proceeding south along Fopbury road about 9 o’clock last evening collided near the corner of Macandrew road, one of the drivers,. Robert O’Connell Shiel, sustaining slight injury. The latter was behind the other car and; struck it .wheii it turned across.' the road. Both cars were badly damaged. FALL FROM WOOL STACK. Joseph Buchanan, married, aged 47, residing at Fox street, Port Chalmers, was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital at 11 a.m. to-day suffering from' injuries to the - left wrist and abrasions to the face, which he received through falling from a stack of wool in ths shed of Messrs John Mill and Co., of Port Chalmers. FATAL COLLISION. Apparently while looking round fay* ing to hook up the rear stand of a motor cycle which was dragging, Ivan Rawson (20), a railway porter, collided with a telegraph post near the Commercial Hotel, suffering severe injuries from which ho died a few hours, later.—Timaru Press Association.
