ACCOMMODATION REGULATIONS HEALTHY LIVING CONDITIONS [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 11. Regulations dealing with accommodation for agricultural workers under the Agricultural Workers Act were issued to-night. They provide that separate accommodation must be provided where both male and female workers are employed. The site must be suitable for the purpose, must be properly drained, and a sufficient distance from animal pens, stables, and accumulations of refuse or offensive matter. It shall preferably be well sheltered and kept clear of overgrowing vegetation. The floor must consist of wood or other approved material, and have at least six inches clearance from the .ground. The walls must be lined and so constructed that they exclude wind and water. Sleeping rooms must provide not less than 60 square feet of floor space for each occupant, and shall be not less than Bft in height in any part. Not more than two persons shall be required to sleep in one room, and each bunk or bed must be provided with a spring mattress or a mattress of chaff, straw, or kapok. Suitable heating appliances, lighting, and ventilation must be provided. Sanitation provisions are also set out. and if steam is used showers with hot and cold water shall be _ provided for the worker. Provision is also made for temporary accommodation, and, except where only one person is accommodated, no person shall sleep in the dining or cooking quarters.
