PRIME MINISTER’S TOUR
NORTH ISLAND ITINERARY HEAVY PROGRAMME INDICATED [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 11. A few days after his South Island tour, which cuds on February 28, the Prime Minister (the Hon. M. J. Savage) will carry out his promise to visit several centres in the North Island. “ It is my intention to go straight through to Auckland first,” said Mr Savage in an interview to-night. “ Although my visit must be necessarily short, in view of the fact that I have to leave for London on March 27, I hope to meet many of my loyal friends in my friendly electorate. In addition, there will he a chance to talk things over with the citizens of Auckland. As a matter of fact, it is extremely difficult to accept all the kind invitations that have already been made to me, hut everything possible will be done in the time available to meet the wishes of many organisations and reprsentative people.” From Auckland Mr Savage will go to Ngaruawahia and Kotorua, where he will visit the Native settlements, and as Minister of Native Affairs will receive several Maori deputations. The complete itinerary has not yet been arranged, but it is certain that on the journey back to Wellington the Prime Minister will spend the better part of a day and possibly a night at Palmerston North, where for some time past representative bodies have expressed a desire to have the opportunity to meet Mr Savage before his departure for the Coronation. It is clear that Mr Savage will have a full programme of administrative and public duties before he can enjoy for the first time a recuperative trip to England by way of the Panama Canal.
