DEMAND FOR INQUIRY • MINISTERIAL COMMENT [Per United Peess Association.] ' CHRISTCHURCH, February 11. The Minister of Railways (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) said to-day that ,lic could not make an immediate reply to the request for a public inquiry into the collision involving the New Plymouth, express, but in any case a serious view was taken of any such breaches of the regulations. “ The representations now being made will have to be considered in the light of the facts which are available ! to me,” Mr Sullivan said. “ The driver of the night goods train which crashed into the New Plymouth express admitted that he did not comply with the regulations, and his failure resulted in the accident. Having regard to the danger to human life involved, the public, the department, and the Minister take a serious view of such breaches of the regulations.”
