GERMAN INTEREST IN ANGOLA Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright BERLIN, January 28. (Received January 29, at 9 a.m.) Seven prominent firms have ostensibly privately undertaken constructional exploitation activities in Angola; a Portuguese possession on the west coast of Africa. It is asserted that this will not prejudice Portuguese sovereignty. An economic mission has arrived in Berlin from Teheran _in order to negotiate the construction of fish export factories in Persia. NO POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE LONDON, January 28. (Received January 29, at 11 a.m.) The ‘ Manchester Guardian’s ’ diplomatic correspondent says the Portuguese Government has assured the British Government that the arrangement is purely commercial and without political significance. There is no question of Germany obtaining a foothold in Portuguese Africa. The Berlin correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ says the arrangement does not affect Portuguese sovereignty over the properties to be exploited.
