CCOMBE ANB MISS NICHOLLS AGAIN BEATEN [Pee United Press Association.] AUCKLAND. January 28. . Two surprises occurred in the semi* finals of the Auckland championships. H. T. Wilson, a local player, defeated D. C. Coombe, of Wellington, the Do* aninion champion, in three straight sets,, .scoring a well-deserved suqcess. In the '.women’s singles Miss Margaret Beverley, the 18-year-old Matamata player* defeated Miss Dulcie Nicholls, the New; Zealand, title-holder, in three sets* Miss, Beverley outplayed her opponent, and was leading 5-2 in the first set when' she was attacked by nerves. She afterwards recovered, however, winning the next two sets.
