PICTURESQUE WEDDING GROUP

OTAGO AND SOUTH CANTERBURY FAMILIES UNITED CHARMING OLD-WORLD BRIDE WITH SIX MAIDS IN ATTENDANCE For her wedding on Thursday afternoon to Mr William Derrick Orbell, son of Mr and Mrs W. H. Orbell, The Levels, Timaru, Miss Mary Catherine Ritchie, daughter of Dr and Mrs Russell Ritchie, chose a most beautiful and uncommon gown. It was designed in medieval style, and was fashioned from a piece of old parchment corded silk that had been in the family for many a day. The bodice fitted snugly to the bride’s girlish figure, and had a square neckline and long sleeves slightly leg-of-mutton. The skirt was gored and fell into a very long train. Over this she wore an exquisite veil of old Honiton lace, an heirloom in the bridegroom's family, which fell gracefully from a coronet of pleated tulle, arranged with dainty posies of orange blossom. Sbe carried a shower bouquet of deep cream roses. As she walked up the aisle, escorted by her father and followed by her six maids—the Misses Joan Ritchie, Annette Orbell, Elizabeth Ritchie, Molly Birch, Mary Reeves, and Janet Orbell—the group was a most charming _ one. The bridesmaids’ frocks were fashioned alike of old parchment chiffon, cut on simple lines and trimmed with diagonal pin tucks, the skirts falling gracefully into trains. With these were worn sashes of cherry-coloured chiffon, softly knotted at the back and falling to the ground. Coronets of rosebuds in the same cherry shade and shower bouquets of roses to match were charming accessories. The church, too, had been decorated in cherry and cream flowers to match the bridal scheme. It was intended to have two tiny train hearers, Rosemary Murray, of Godley Peaks Station, and Letitia 8011, of Shag
