AERODROME FEES

LANDING AND HOUSING CHARGES [Per United Press Association.] WKLLINGTON, January 8. Maximum lauding and housing charges for aeroplanes on aerodromes have been approved by the Minister of Defence (Mr Jones), by regulations under the Air Navigation Act. The charges for. accommodation are to be based on the floor space occupied by the aeroplanes when the aircraft is accommodated folded. The area is to be taken as product of the folded width and the overall length. The maximum rates may be charged only in those cases where provision is made for fully servicing the aircraft, and charges for housing will not be permitted unless accommodation is available. Where housing is available, but is not used on an aerodrome between sunset and sunrise, a standing charge, calculated at half the daily rate, may be charged. Housing fees are as follow:—Small type, occupying less than 400 square feet, Is up to eight hours and 2s up to 24 hours; small type, occupying from 400 to 800 square feet, 2s up to eight hours and from 4s to 6s up to 24 hours; medium type, occupying from _ 800 to 1,600 square feet, 3s up to eight hours and from 6s to 10s up to 24 hours; large type, occupying from 1.600 to 3,200 square feet, 6s up to eight hours and from 10s to IBs up to 24 hours; large type, occupying more than 3,200 square feet, I.os up to eight hours and £1 up to 24 hours. Landing fees may be charged according to the maximum permissible weight authorised by the certificate of airworthiness of the aircraft. A landing fee will not be chargeable for a test flight, and machines normally fitted with tail wheels will be charged threequarters of the normal rate. The landing fees prescribed are as follow:—Machines certificated up to 1,2001 b, Is; up to I,Boolb. Is 6d;,-np to 2.0001 b, 2s; up to 2.2001 b, 3s; up to 2,5001 b. 4s: up to 3,0001 b, ss. From 3,000 to 10,0001 b the rate rises hv 2s for everv I.ooolb, and above 10,0001 b it rises by Is for every I,ooolb. Before any charges are put into operation on any ground, approval of the proposed scale must bo secured from the Minister.
