ATTACKED AT HOME
INTRUDERS STUN HIM UNCONSCIOUS FOR 16 HOURS [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, January 9. A young man, Walter Rowe, of Waltham, suffered severe head injuries and concussion when he was by two men at his home at about midnight on Monday. He was alone in the house. Rowe had been visiting neighbours, and he returned home at about midnight. Just before retiring he heard the crash of tools in the shed in the garden, some 80 yards back from the street and standing well back from the house. On going to , the toolshed to investigate he was attacked by two men, who had been in the shed, and, receiving several blows on the head, was knocked unconscious. Rowe’s plight was not discovered until next morning, when he was found by neighbours, unconscious, lying on the drive which led from the shed to the street. The injured man was taken to the hospital, but he did not regain consciousness until 16 hours after he had been assaulted. His condition to-day is very much improved.
