—Vice-regal.— Her _ Excellency Lady Galway, who met with an accident recently while riding, has made very satisfactory progress since her return to Government House from hospital, but it will be some time before she will be able to get about again. —Ministerial.— The Postmaster-General (Hon. FV Jones), who has been spending the holiday period at his home in Dunedin* will leave for Wellington on Saturday morning. The Attorney-General (Hon. H. G, R. Mason), who visited Invercargill yesterday, inspected the Borstal Institution in that city and the training farm at Otatara. Earlier in the day he inspected the courthouse at Gore. Ha also visited the paper mills at Mataura and the milk products factory, at Edendale. He left Invercargill today for the Lakes district. Mr J. C. Begg left this morning for Auckland, where he will attend tha congress of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science. Mr A. P. Nelson left to-day on his return to Hamilton. Mr K. W. R. Glasgow left by tha second express this morning to attend the congress of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science, which is to be held at Auckland. A Press Association cable message from London states that_ Mr Dudley Ackroyd was elected president of the British Wool Federation in succession to Mr Reddihough. ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS BOY’S BODY FOUND IN SURF. Recovered from the surf off Weymouth Beach (Auckland) on Monday evening, the body of a boy named , Clyde Neville Gillott, aged 13 years,was found to have a fracture at the base of the skull. There was also a deep gash across the eyes. The boy, a ward of the State, had been staying with his foster-mother, being on holiday from the Oamaru school for backward children* RIGHT ARM SEVERED. Slipping in an attempt to board the Limited express at Palmerston North last night, Peter Schmidt, aged 49, fell between two carriages. His right arm was severed, and he suffered a severe scalp wound. He is believed to belong to Auckland. DEAD IN HIS HUT. The body of Patrick Russell, single, aged 60, was found in a hut in Devereaux road, near Winton. Russell, who lived by himself, had not been seen for two or three months, and it was thought that he had gone gold digging, as he had been in the habit of doing.
