POLICE COURT

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6. (Before Mr, H. W. Bundle, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. A statutory first offender, Alexander M'Laren, was fined 20s, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment, TWO THEFT CHARGES. Ivor Robert Prescott (39), a canvasser, was charged with the theft on December 23 of a pair of sox, valued at 2a 7d, the property of Ross and Glendining Ltd. He was further charged with the theft at Dunedin on October 21 last of a watch, valued at £3 2s 6d, the property of ' Dudley Grubb. On the application of Mr G. Murdoch, who appeared for accused, the first charge was adjourned for one week. The accused was further remanded on the second charge, bail being renewed in his own recognisance of £SO. a condition being that he reports daily to the police.
