WEATHER FORECAST
MISTY RAIK AT TIMES The following weather report was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts; Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:^ The northern cyclone has become shallower, but more extensive. An. anti-cyclone is now centred east of the South Island, but pressure is falling over the Tasman Sea, Forecast: Moderate to strong north-east to northerly winds. . Weather mainly fair * and mild, but cloudy to overcast in parts of Otago, with showers or misty rain at times. Seas rather rough north of Nugget Point; elsewhere slight to moderate. CONDITIONS MOT PROMISING. Although the? day broke fine and warm in Dunedin, at noon conditions had changed', the stin having disappeared and the sky becoming overcast. A strong north-east wind was present during the latter part of the morning, and at 12 o’clock conditions were not at all promising for fine weather on New Year’s Day. To-day’s maximum temperature was 59deg, as compared with yesterday’s reading of 56.5 deg, while the respective minima were 58.2 deg and 49.9 deg. The barometer at noon was falling at 30.05 in.
