CORONATION CELEBRATIONS

OBSERVANCE IN DOMINION ' PERMANENT HEALTH CAMPS PROPOSED IPeb United Press Association^ WELLINGTON, December 19. The Prime Minister stated to-day that the question of the celebration of the Coronation had been before Cabinet. Public buildings would be suitably decorated and illuminated. A decision had been made against tho distribution of medals to school children from the feeling that they would fail in their purpose as permanent memorials, but the Government had in mind the distribution to each school, though not to the individual children, of something appropriate wnieh would be a permanent reminder. The Government also felt with Britain that a national efford in regard to a Coronation memorial should be a King George V. memorial, and had no hesitation in proposing that a fund be instituted for tho permanent establishment and maintenance of children’s health camps. The Government would inaugurate a fund at an early data with a substantial contribution and would use all the departmental machinery at its disposal to help in the appeal to the people. This year’s health stamp campaign would be held as usual to augment the present health camp finances, but it was probable that a special Coronation stamp would be issued next year with the profits going to the King George V. memorial fund.
