STARTLING ALLEGATIONS

ONTARIO’S ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY Pre»s Awociation—By Telajraph—CopyrifM MONTREAL, December 18. Mr M. Hepburn, Premier of Ontario, issued a statement alleging that a former Premier, Mr Taschereau, tried to force the Ontario Government to continue power contracts with four Quebec companies by threats to stop the entire export of Ontario and plunge Eastern Ontario in darkness, and to commit sabotage by pulling plugs in the sluice gates on the Quebec side of Chats Falls. Development of the threat was thwarted by the purchase of a frequency changer by the Hydro Commission, making all Ontario independent of the Quebec supply.
