CHRISTMAS IN NEW ZEALAND

The beauty of Christmas—the sun Smiling sweetly on everyone. Tho sea, sparkling bright, Like gems, a lovely sight, Caressing breezes, warm sands, The flowers of Christmas, roses white, Roses red, yellow, and pink, bright And fragrant; and sweet peas, A treat for golden honey-bees. Honeysuckle in wild profusion thrown O’er bowers, from whence its scent is blown. The fruit of Christmas —cherries, Black and luscious, and raspberries Red and rich, their seeded cones On loaded cane. Strawberries that cheer The eye and please the tongue with flavour rare, Golden plums, very sweet, and gooseberries. Christmas in New Zealand is not a time of snow, But a time of fragrant beauty that doesn’t quickly go. A time of fruit and flowers sweet. Golden butterflies in the summer heat. For Christmas in New Zealand is a true mid-summer treat.
