On Saturday afternoon members of the Punga Club held a very enjoyable Christmas party on the lawns to conclude the tea days for the year. The pavilion was very prettily decorated, and a Christmas cake, with appropriate trimmings, a gift from the president, held pride of place on the table. The serving of strawberries and cream concluded a pleasant little function, the

president, Mrs J. M'Donald, wishing members the compliments of the season. Personal. Mrs T. M. Ball, of the Watea Club, left on Tuesday to make her home in Wellington. She will be very much missed in Otago croquet circles. Farewell to Mrs Dalgleish. On Thursday afternoon, in the Tudor Hall, Mrs A. S. Dalgleish, past president of the Otago Croquet Association, was the guest of the executive officers of the association at afternoon tea prior to her departure to Auckland. Mrs J. G. H. Briggs, president, extended to Mrs Dalgleish the best wishes of the association, and presented her with a bouquet of beautiful roses. Those present were Mesdames Briggs, Dalgleish, M'Donald, Cole, Buchler, Gibson, and Nelson. The St. Clair Club met on Tuesday to give an afternoon tea in honour of Mrs Dalgleish. The president (Mrs Briggs), on behalf of the members, spoke of the interest Mrs Dalgleish had taken in all matters pertaining to the club since its inception. ’ She had held the offices of secretary and president, and last season had been elected captain. As a token of the appreciation • and esteem in which Mrs Dalgleish was held she had much pleasure in presenting her with a writing case. Mrs Dalgleish thanked the members for their gift and good wishes, and said she would not need anything to remind her of the happy times spent with them. She had enjoyed all the work undertaken, and wished the club success and prosperity in the coming year.
