CLOUDY, SCATTERED RAIN The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the Southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanni, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— An anti-cyclone, centred over the northern Tasman Sea, extends on to the Dominion, but pressure is falling in the south under the influence of a depression advancing across the South Tasman. Forecast : Moderate to strong northerly to westerly winds. Weather fair at first, but soon clouding over, and later scattered rain probable. Seas moderate, but rising. & COLD SNAP ENDS. A return to warm temperatures was experienced in Dunedin this morning, a welcome change from the cold snap of the preceding days. Although the sky still remained heavily overcast, and quite a heavy shower of rain fell about 9 o’clock, the absence of the cold southwesterlies prevalent previously made the morning relatively pleasant. Barometric pressure at noon to-day showed no variation from that of yesterday, being 29.8 in, falling gradually. Bain this morning and last evening was insufficient for registration. The respective maximum and minimum temperature readings until 12.30 p.m. to-day, 66deg and 59.1 deg, show a considerable increase on those of yesterday for the same period, 55.9 deg and 52.5 deg, and even on those over 24 hours on Friday. 60.7 deg and 40deg. Indications at neon were favourable, the afternoon promising to be tine and warm, though the sky will remain overcast.
