THE SECOND TEST

WEATHER UNSETTLED' WINNING OF TOSS IMPORTANT FACTOR OMISSION OF WORTHINGTON CAUSES SURPRISE Press Association—Bj Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, December 18. (Received December 18, at 11 a.m.) Allen has announced the following 12 players from whom the M.C.C. team for the second test, commencing today, will be selected : Allen, Barnett, Fagg, Hammond, Leyland, Ames, Hardstaff, Robins, Verity, Sims, Voce, and Eishlock. Surprise has been caused by the omission of Worthington, who played in the first test.. Fears that the wicket will not last may have influenced. the English selectors to choose an extra bowler, and Sims, a right-hand spin bowler, may gain a place. It is agreed in Sydney that the winning of the toss will be an important factor, as the weather here is somewhat unsettled, with thunderstorms forecast.
