PREPARED FOR INQUIRY

MRS FREER STATES HER CASE ! - " I INTEND TO CLEAR MY NAME " [Per United Pees? Association.] WELLINGTON, December 16. In a letter to the. Press, Mrs M* M. Freer says:- “ Several statements have appeared in New Zealand newspapers to the effect that some definite legal action would be commenced by me in New Zealand on Friday. I know nothing about any such contemplated action. My case_ is being considered by my legal advisers here, who are in communication with the solicitors in Australia who took action on my behalf prior to my leaving for Sydney by the Awatea. That action was taken by them on their own initiative, arising out of their own feelings at the grave injustice done to me an r d at the misuse to which the immigration laws of Australia had been put. “ At the moment, so far as I know, legal action is not in immediate contemplation, but that does not mean that I am not persevering with the fight. It is not my intention to return to my children in England with the brand put upon me by ,Mr Paterson, Before 1 return to England I intend to clear my name in Australia. I am prepared to appear before any tribunal there, including the Cabinet of which Mr Paterson is himself a member. After hearing me, they can make what inquiries they like, and I am prepared to abide by their decision. If, after hearng me, they are dissatisfied, I would be prepared to leave Australia.”
