SPEEDWAY RIDERS
ARRIVAL OF AMERICAN TEAM [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, December 8. Putt Mossman, the American speedway rider, arrived to-day by the.Makura with a team of riders to take part in the dirt track Reason in New Zealand. He said he was looking forward to the racing, and it is his opinion that the team is better equipped than the team he brought last season, and should make a good showing. With Mossman are his brother, E. Mossman (holder of the American N.M.A. championship), his sie Mossman, Ray Grant, “Pee Wee” Cujlum, and two New Zealanders who have linked up with him—Dick Lawson (Wellington) and J. Hobson (Christchurch). Mossman said that all the machines to be ridden by the team are fitted with clutch starts, and to overcome the difficulty experienced last season in obtaining spare parts he had brought l,ooodol worth of parts with him. The team’s equipment comprises 23 motor cycles and a motor car, which is used by Mossman in a stunt new to this country.
