REPORTS. , The chairman of the Works Committee (Mr H. W. Wilson) submitted the following reports on the-- works of the month :—• The Works Committee met at Momona land inspected the main drain, and decided to put both gangs into the channel to clean it through to Momona to give relief to that area. We inspected the Waipori River and decided that as the river is encroaching dangerously in two places the work of putting in willows to protect the bank be gone on with as soon as the new cut is cleaned. The scours in the Waipori River are the direct result of the City Corporation removing the willows from the banks, and we recommend that the cost of these repairs be charged to the corporation. The report was adopted. The chief forenjpn (Mr B. Parsons) reported that the wash-out on the contour bridge from John Miller’s was repaired, and that 70yds of willows had been planted at the erosion on the Waipori River near Petrie’s, at Berwick. At Shennan’s, 35yds of willows had been planted, and at the back of Eric Munro’s 20yds. Assistance was given with the cleaning of the new cut. The break in the Waipori River bank at Berwick was repaired, and the road to the Berwick pumping station was also repaired. Attention was given to the river banks. The foreman of the top gang (Mr J. Marshall) reported that 90 chains of the new cut and 40 chains of Cullen’s drain, most of which had to be shovelled, were cut and dragged. Fifty chains of drain from Kirfi’a road to Snell’s gate and 65 chains from Gamble’s gate to Bremner’s road had also been cut and dragged. The last two drains were in a very bad state. The level of the water had been lowered 12in so that all water had been drained from Snell’s property. Prom the outlet to Loch Katrine on Duck Creek, 34 chains of drain had been cut and dragged. The river bank had been given attention. The gang was, at present, working on Thornton’s, in Duck Creek. The reports were adopted.' GENERAL. The Chairman stated that his attention had been drawn to the amount of gravel on the straight stretch of the Waipori River below Berwick. It was complained that the flow of the water was being impeded. He had inspected the area and found there was a considerable growth on both banks which would mean that the Bruce County Council would also be concerned.—lt was decided to inspect the area again and to discuss the matter at a later date. ./ Accounts amounting to £2,601 12s lid wore passed for payment.
