RIFLE SHOOTING

KIWI DEFENCE CLUB On Saturday, in weather mg re congenial than of late, the Kiwi Defence Rifle Club fired the concluding competition of No. 1 match on the hill rahge. The match in the A grade was won by Rifleman R. Gillick with a total of 192. Riflemen H. Tattersfield and N.. Jones both had scores of 190, but Rifleman H. Tattersfield annexed second prize by virtue of his smaller handicap. The winner in the B grade was Rifleman G. Stinson (188), with Rifleman G. Adams (187) second. At 300yds .Rifleman R. Gillick was top scorer with a possible, upon which he is to be congratulated, as it is the first 10-shot possible recorded on the hill range for a considerable time, and especially because the hill range is recognised as being very difficult. Other good scores at this range were Rifleman N. Jones 48, Riflemen T. Quinn and H. Tattersfield 47. By finishing with eight bulls, giving him 48, Rifleman R. Gillick again topped the list at 500yds, beating other good scorers in Rifleman P. Finnessey 48 and Rifleman W. Pullar 47. The best scratch score on the day was Rifleman R. Gilliclc’s 98, which was a meritorious performance, which showed his capabilities, since he was able to put on a score like that when it was necessary to win the match. Rifleman P. Fenne&ey had the next best with 94, and Rifleman H. Tattersfield 93. The individual scores were:— —A Grade.—
