HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON. October 20. The House met at 2.20 p.m. In reply to a question by Mr T. D. Burnett about freezing works’ rates, and to a suggestion that the matter of freezing charges should be investigated; the Minister of Agriculture said that m connection with meat matters he was naturally guided largely on technical lines by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, an accredited organisation specially designed and constituted to safeguard the interests of the meat industry, both from the producer and the national standpoints. “I am in close consultation with that board at the present time in connection with freezing rates and other matters,” said the Minister, “ and if it is found advantageous both to the Government and for the better functioning of the board, that a special investigation covering the various points enumerated should be undertaken the question as to whether the assistance of tho Executive Commission of Agriculture, with its excellent machinery for securing evidence, should be taken advantage of will be given duo consideration.
