SUCCESS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS It was stated by Mr D. C. Cameron at the meeting of the Otago Education Board to-day that the devotional exercises being carried out in many of tho schools of Dunedin were proving very The honorary organiser of the Bible-in-Schools League reported that 25 schools had now taken advantage of the devotional exercises. , Mr Cameron said that several members of the board had visited schools ia the city while devotional exercises wera being held. The exercises comprised thi singing of a hymn, a reading of Scripture, and the recital, of the Lord’s Prayer, and occupied five minutes each morning. Head masters had assured them that .the exercises were beneficial to the pupils and to the school generally. The system was in. vogue in at least 30 schools in Otago. It was entirely a voluntary effort on the part of the school committees and the teachers. There was no sectarianism about it, and he was very pleased with what he had seen. lie thought the league was to be commended in instituting the system.
